The law firm of Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin PLLC (GSRM Law) is pleased to announce the addition of attorneys Joe M. Goodman, William E. Blackstone and Michael R. Griffin to the firm. All three join the firm from Goodman Callahan Blackstone PLLC and will practice in the firm’s Wills, Trusts and Estates and Tax Sections.

“GSRM Law has been looking to grow our tax and estate planning practices and the addition of Joe, Billy and Michael is an excellent opportunity for the firm. Their focus on tax & estate planning, family business planning, asset protection and probate administration will be a great addition to GSRM Law and add depth and additional experience to the firm’s Wills, Trusts and Estates and Tax practices,” said Phillip P. Welty, Managing Member, GSRM Law.

Joe M. Goodman has provided multidisciplinary professional services to high net worth families and family-owned businesses for more than 30 years. In the areas of financial, tax, investment, estate and business planning, he facilitates the communication and decision-making process for families dealing with issues that overlap family and business. Joe received his law degree from University of Tennessee College of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.

William E. Blackstone has counseled high-net-worth individuals and families in the areas of business and tax planning, including estate planning, asset protection, and charitable giving for more than 30 years. A particular focus has been on the challenges of successfully transitioning ownership of family businesses and legacy properties from one generation to the next. Billy also guides closely held business owners on formation and governance issues, including ownership structure and buy-sell agreements, and has advised on the formation and qualification of tax-exempt entities. Billy received his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law and an LL.M in Taxation from Georgetown University.

Michael R. Griffin focuses his practice on counseling individuals and families on estate planning; tax planning for trusts and estates; formation, governance, and succession of closely-held businesses; asset protection; and charitable giving. As a member of a family whose focus has, in part, revolved around a multi-generational family business, Michael also has a particular appreciation for and awareness of the non-legal and non-monetary aspects of maintaining, leaving, and inheriting a legacy. Michael received his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law and an LL.M in Taxation from Northwestern University.

Joe Goodman and Billy Blackstone will continue to operate out of their Franklin, Tennessee office at 725 Cool Springs Boulevard. Michael Griffin will move to GSRM Law’s downtown Nashville office at 150 3rd Avenue South.
